The little black book...

This little pocket journal was designed with Brutalism in mind.

It pushes raw materials and hard edges to the forefront by being cut almost entirely from a single piece of Firm, Italian leather that's sturdy enough to stand on its own without layering, and only uses minimal stitching so the materials can speak for themselves.

Its ergonomic shape fits nicely in the palm and can easily slip into pockets of almost any size while retaining an excellent working area.

The use of natural retention in lieu of a latch closure help to keep the lines clean and remove any hesitation or distraction from the creative moment.

It also gets better with time, as it softens and takes on the scars and characteristics of its owner's lifestyle.

Creator Note

This design is my vision of an everyday pocket journal that possesses the usefulness of a Field Notes or Moleskine notebook, but without any wasted space or compromises.

It's made from some of the best, individually sourced materials in the world, and is my small contribution to the art of Ideation, and a tool to capture, and build upon life's decisive moments.
